John S. Johnson

God in His infinite wisdom called Brother Johnson from his work to his reward, February 17, 1926.
John Scott Johnson was born June 15, 1858 in Pope county, Illinois, sixteen miles north of Golconda, where he lived the most of his life. In 1920, he moved to Harrisburg, Saline County.
Brother Johnson made a public profession of faith and was baptized into the fellowship of Concord Missionary Baptist church by Elder John Blanchard on Christmas day, 1880. He was ordained as a deacon of the church about 1890 and remained a faithful Christian worker the remainder of his life, being a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church at his death.
Brother Johnson was united in marriage to Minta S. Barger, April 15, 1888. One son, Carl D., having preceded him in death, July 28, 1903, a wife and seven children survive him. The children are: Audrey, a daughter, and six sons as follows: Simon B., Dr. J.K., Rodney, Gale, Shirley and Maynard. Two brothers, Thos. and Wilson; two sisters, Mrs. Louella Patterson and Mrs. Mattie Robertson and six grandchildren, besides a number of other relatives and friends, also survive him.
