Samuel Thompson, son of William and Priscilla Thompson,
was born in Pope County, Illinois, October 25, 1870, and died
at his home near here he as born, on September 13, 1926, aged
55 years, 10 months and 19 .
He leaves to mourn his departure a twin brother, Harrison Thompson,
and one sister, Martha Thompson, with whom he made his home.
Also, J. W. Thompson, of Golconda, is a brother to the deceased.
He also had three sisters who have preceded him to the better
land and he leaves behind a large number of relatives and a host
of friends During his last illness he professed faith in Christ
and died in the triumph of a living faith.
Mr. Thompson was a good citizen, a kind and considerate neighbor,
and was held in high esteem by all who knew him and in his passing
all feel they have lost a friend.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. L. Phifer, at Palestine
church Tuesday afternoon, after which interment occurred in the
Palestine cemetery.
