Linnie Stafford
Linnie Stafford was born near Renshaw, Pope County, Illinois,
on December 28, 1891; passed away in Hardin County General Hospital,
Rosiclare at 6:30 p. m. Thursday, November 19. He had two brothers,
Jimmie and Harry, one sister, Mrs. Nellie Mott, three half-brothers,
Charles, David and Lewis Stafford, and four half-sisters, Mrs.
Martha Castleman, Mrs. Effie Muttonhammer, Mrs. Ruby Hawes, and
Mrs. Luella Tucker. Mr. Stafford was married on Dec. 22, 1911
to Clara Adams and to this union 11 children were born. Surviving
Mr. Stafford are two sons, Lewis and Morris, four daughters, Mrs.
Irene Conley, Mrs. Faye Earle, Mrs. Barbara Brow and Mrs. Shirley
Barger, and his loving wife.
Mr. Stafford was a retired railroad employee and spent his entire
life in and around Pope County. He was converted and joined the
First Baptist Church of Golconda, Nov. 9, 1941. To his Lord and
to his church he was a most faithful servant. His loyal attendance
at the church services in spite of personal hardship and pain
were an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
A dearly beloved one from our midst has departed. While we will
miss him, we know that now he has a better home. No more descriptive
words could be applied than these: He was a good man.
Funeral services conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Jim Doom, were
held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Golconda.
Burial was in the IOOF cemetery with Rottman Funeral Service,
Golconda, in charge of arrangements.
