Julius Philip Voslow was born near Golconda, Illinois, March
31, 1876. The death angel came and took him away April 28, 1939
at the age of 63 years and 28 days. He was the son of John Henry
and Amelia Schneider Voslow. His entire life was spent as a farmer
near the place of his birth.
On February 28, 1904, he was united in marriage to Miss Eva Faulkner.
To this union two children were born. The happy couple were
deeply stricken in grief at the loss of their first child, a
little son, who died at the age of eleven days. The second child
was a girl, Elsie, who is Mrs. Brose Phillips, of Harrisburg,
Illinois.
Julius was a good husband and father. No weather was too rough,
or no work too hard for him if it benefited his family or his
home. His life was spent in doing for his family and friends.
Words cannot express the loss the community will feel at his
passing.
His health had been failing for several years, but he did not
give up active life until forced to do so by his illness. When
he realized his time was near, he made peace with his Savior and
expressed his readiness to go.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, daughter and son-in-law,
and two grandchildren, Wayland and Avah Louise. he leaves four
sisters, Miss Yetta Voslow, Golconda; Mrs. Mary Racine, Terre
Haute, Ind.; Mrs. Laura Belcher, Eddyville, Ill.; and one brother,
Henry Voslow, of Golconda. He leaves two step-brothers, Ed Estes,
of Eddyville, Ill., and Andrew Estes, of Golconda, Ill., and a
host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in Waltersburg M. E. church Sunday,
April 30, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Herschel Martin with burial
in the church cemetery.
