Grant Franklin Whiteside
Grant Franklin Whiteside, known as "Frank"
by his many friends, was born the son of Sherman and Mary Simpson
Whiteside, on July 31, 1892 and departed this life after a brief
illness on March 19, 1969. At the time he was claimed by death,
he was 76 years of age.
On January 23, 1916 he was united in matrimony with Belva Haden.
To this union four children were born.
On February 13, 1950, he was married to Martha Brush who survives
to mourn the passing of this, her beloved companion.
He is further survived by two sons, Joe Whiteside of Simpson and
Lynn Whiteside of Tunnel Hill, Illinois and two daughters - in
- law, Jane and Arlene, whom he loved as his own. One daughter,
Mildred Martha and one son, Gerald Dean have preceded their father
in death.
Surviving also is one sister, Stella Robinson of Simpson; four
grandchildren, Mrs. Barbara Jo Poe of Williamsville, Ill., and
Joey, Starla, and Christine Whiteside of Tunnel Hill, Ill.; two
great-grandchildren, Edgar Allen and Robin Jo Poe of Williamsville,
Ill.; and many other relatives and friends of a lifetime, all
of whom will sadly miss him. One sister, three brothers, two
grandchildren, and one great granddaughter have preceded him in
death.
Born in Johnson County, he spent most of his lifetime in the county
of his birth where he spent his laboring years as a construction
worker. When failing health made his work difficult, he entered
retirement and spent the remainder of his lifetime in the company
of those he loved.
During his lifetime he accepted the promises of God the Father
for life everlasting and became a member of Pleasant Ridge Cumberland
Presbyterian Chuech. His love of God the Father followed him
even in the last moments of his life.
Now this child of God has gone to his eternal reward where he
will receive the continued love and protection of our Lord and
Saviour, Jesus Christ _ a reward for a life so richly and fully
lived.
